Mission: Yozakura Family Anime Season 2 Casts Yume Miyamoto
The production team behind the anime adaptation of Mission: Yozakura Family announced on Sunday that Yume Miyamoto will join the cast for its second season. She will voice Jigokumimi no Usa, a reporter for the underground gossip magazine Spyday who possesses exceptional hearing and communication skills, allowing her to gather information from her targets. The character is set to debut in episode 30, airing on April 26.

Additionally, NBCUniversal has begun streaming the anime’s creditless opening and ending sequences. The opening features “What’s ‘KAZOKU’” (“What’s ‘Family’”) by Sakurazaka46, while the ending theme, “Shalala,” is performed by Pilaf Alien.
Story:
After losing his family in a tragic car accident, high schooler Taiyou Asano becomes socially withdrawn and struggles to connect with others. The only person he feels comfortable around is his childhood friend, Mutsumi Yozakura—who also happens to be the head of a legendary family of spies.
However, Mutsumi’s older brother, Kyouichirou Yozakura, is obsessively protective of her, stemming from a past incident that left her seriously injured. His extreme devotion turns deadly, and Taiyou soon finds himself in danger.
To stay alive, Taiyou is forced to marry Mutsumi and join the Yozakura family. Suddenly thrust into a world of espionage, he begins training to become a skilled spy—not only to protect his new wife, but also to uncover the hidden truths surrounding his past and the Yozakura family.
For the new season, Mirai Minato serves as chief director at SILVER LINK while continuing to oversee the series composition. Takahiro Nakatsugawa—who previously worked as a storyboard artist and episode director in the first season—steps in as director. Returning staff also include character designer Mizuki Takahashi, composer Kōji Fujimoto, and sound director Tōru Kanegae.

The second season premiered on April 12 across MBS, TBS, and 26 affiliated stations as part of the “Nichigo” Sunday programming block, which airs at 5:00 p.m. JST (4:00 a.m. EDT). The season is also available for streaming on Hulu.
The first season debuted in Japan in April 2024 on the same networks. Internationally, Disney streams the anime via Hulu with an English dub in the United States, while it is also available on Prime Video and Netflix in Japan.
Creator Hitsuji Gondaira (known for Demon Prince Poro’s Diaries) launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump, published by Shueisha, in August 2019. The series concluded in January 2025, with the 29th and final volume released in March 2025.
Viz Media has been publishing the manga in English digitally since its Japanese debut, later releasing collected digital volumes beginning in December 2020 and physical editions starting in October 2022. MANGA Plus has also made the series available digitally in English.
In addition to the manga and anime, the franchise has expanded to include several light novels.
